What is a BCF File?
BCF (BIM Collaboration Format) is the open standard for issue communication in BIM projects. This demo loads sample BCF files - click on topics in the panel to see viewpoints restore the exact camera and selection.
BCF Features in the Viewer
Import BCF Files
Load BCF 2.1, BCF 3.0, and Navisworks XML clash reports. All topics appear in the Topics panel with their viewpoints and comments.
Create Topics
Right-click elements and select "Add Topic" to create a new issue. The viewpoint captures camera position, selection, visibility, and clipping planes.
Topic Properties
Set type, priority, status, labels, stage, assigned to, and due date. All standard BCF fields are supported.
Viewpoint Navigation
Click a topic to restore the exact view state - camera position, selected elements, hidden elements, colored elements, and section planes.
Comments
Add and view comments on each topic. Track discussions and resolutions over time with threaded comments.
Export BCF
Download all topics as a .bcf file. Share with Solibri, Navisworks, BIMcollab, or any BCF-compatible software.
Supported BCF Versions
- BCF 2.1 - Widely adopted version with viewpoints, comments, and component visibility.
- BCF 3.0 - Latest standard with enhanced metadata and document references.
- Navisworks XML - Import clash detection reports directly.
What Viewpoints Capture
- Camera position and direction (perspective or orthographic)
- Selected components by GlobalId
- Hidden and visible components
- Component coloring overrides
- Clipping planes with exact positions
